The in the mid 1960s a most unusual game was invented. It used a gaint floor mat for a gameboard and used real people as playing pieces. Because players turned and twisted around each other on the monstrous mat the concept was dubbed Pretzel. The inventor brought the prototype to the Milton Bradley Company where it was renamed Twister. The Twister game was initially marketed to teenagers and sales were sluggish. In 1966 the host of a late night show and a famous actress played the game on air. The sight of the two entwined and entangled sent the audience into hysterics and Americans rushing to the stores to buy their own Twister game.
