- The block of honing compound is made in the US and is very suited to use on a hand-held strop. The stropping paste is wax based and contains aluminium oxide and chromium oxide. It equates to a bench strop of 8000 grit. After you have used your bench stones or your kitchen sharpener, the compound will refine your knife edge to razor sharpness. When your knife starts to lose its fine edge the strop will restore it in a few strokes, right in your kitchen, ready for use
- This strop is handmade in Australia of recycled Australian hardwood, Red Jarrah or Sydney Blue Gum. The overall length is 15 in 1 in wide and in thick. The kangaroo leather pieces are 10 in long. It is a slim strop mimicking the shape of the sharpening steel that it replaces, and the hardwood gives it strength despite its slender appearance.
