- HOW TO EXTENDED SPINDLE LIFE- Spindles must be handled with care to avoid Brinelled bearings; Store spindles in a climate controlled environment; Rotate stored spindles periodically to redistribute lubricant that may have settled; Store spindles away from any vibrating machinery.
- WHY DID YOUR SPINDLE FAIL- The spindle breaths as ambient temperature changes. And even when it is stored in clean dry air, bare metal parts will begin to oxidize when exposed. This condition is exacerbated in warm damp conditions. Corrosion on the highly polished rolling element surfaces will result in premature bearing failure.
- NOTE- Make sure the spacers and lock nuts all are in excellent condition and the mating surfaces are free of burrs and nicks. The objective is that they all push squarely on the tool body, so everything is spinning perfectly and not running out of round and out of balance.
