- DETECTING DEPTH OF FOUR MODES - during the STUD scan mode, the stud sensor can locate the edges of wood or metal studs up to 0.75 inches deep while METAL scan mode locates targets up to 1.18 inches deep, in AC scan mode, can locate the live electrical lines up to 1.96 inchesdeep while DEEP scan mode locates beams wood and metal up to 1.49 inches.
