Description
- Carriage Bolt - A rounded head bolt that most commonly features a square neck and is typically used to fast objects to wood. The square Neck allows the carriage screw to be installed without needing access to both sides of the object being fastened at the same time.
- To install a carriage bolt, simply measure one side of the square neck of the carriage bolt, and drill a hole into the wood approximately the same diameter. Then insert the carriage bolt until the head is pressed securely against the wood. The head of the carriage bolt may need to be lighly hammered. At this point, a nut should be able to be tighted onto the threaded end, without the carriage bolt spinning in the wood.
