Usually 1 L water works for 7-10 days. The release rate depends on pot size, soil composition, climate and plant needs. - TIPS FOR USING PLANT WATERING SPIKES Soak the watering stake first. Water the soil and dig a hole before inserting it into the pot. Insert the terracotta watering spikes deep into the soil so that the opening is flush with the soil. Fill a wine or plastic bottle with water, connect it to the stake and turn upside down. Push the terra cotta spike gently to avoid breakage. Note that you need to insert the 7/8th part of the watering spike into the soil to ensure better release.
