Description
- African Stockfish is a form of dried cod used in many West African cuisines, In Nigeria, it became popular back in the 1970s when Norway contributed tons of dried cod to help relieve starvation brought on by the Biafran civil war. It is naturally sun-dried for weeks to get rid of all the moisture, and then packaged. No salt, additives, or other preservatives added. This method of preservation makes the fish hard and wood-like but also preserves the natural taste and nutrition.
- To rehydrate Soak the fish for at least 12hrs or overnight in room temperature water, or boil in water for 2hrs. It has a strong fish scent that makes any soup you cook with it flavorful and tasty
- This is Gadus Morhua, The Norwegian Cod Stockfish. Mostly loved and eaten by West Africans. Not to be mistaken for other Norwegian Stockfish like SAITHE , HADDOCK , LING , TUSK
