Niacinamide, or as it is more commonly referred to, Vitamin B3, belongs to the group of B vitamins and is water soluble. Though closely related to niacin, it does have differing effects. There is also an extra amide group attached to niacinamide, further differentiating it from regular niacin. Each of them plays an important role in the metabolism of energy in that they may be converted into coenzymes that the enzymes in each cell can make use of when completing the actions that create energy for the body.
