The metal feeder holds around 2 cups of seed and can be directly inserted into the ground with its H-stake base. Light assembly is required. It may take time for birds to discover this new source of sustenance. If after 1 to 2 weeks, you have not received any visitors, sprinkle seeds on the ground to help them find the feeder. Place the feeder about 10-15 feet from a tree or bush so birds can easily retreat to safety if a predator gets too close. Twice a month, flush with hot water and dry before refilling. For a more thorough monthly cleaning, scrub the feeder with a mixture of 1/4 cup white vinegar and 1 gallon of water. Rinse with fresh water before refilling.
