Artisan Abdul razak of Ghana crafts this wonderfully colorful wall sculpture to grace your home. The panel is carved of native sese wood and then hand-beaded with recycled glass beads in myriad colors. Flanking the central portion that depicts a traditional ghanaian stool are two adinkra symbols. On the left is gye nyame , which translates to inch except for God" and reminds us of the omnipotence and supremacy of God. On the right is sankofa , which depicts a bird with its head turned backward and translates roughly to inch reach back and get it", a reminder to learn from our past.Adinkra symbols are visual symbols that were introduced by the Akan peoples; they usually represent Proverbs or concepts.
