Description

This DVD is about the "6th Marine & 10 Army Division on Okinawa".Our troops were being told that they were going to invade Japan main island after Okinawa and all were appalled at the staggering losses on both sides. It was one of the reasons President Truman dropped the bomb because it was believed as many as 1 million casualties would be taken if it was anything like Okinawa. This is a real piece of history. 1st Film: "6th Marine Division on Okinawa". A Navy film shot in 16mm early color, "NOT in 35mm" and/or a hollywood production. Much of this film is actual raw combat footage put to a Navy documentary of the last battle of the war; Okinawa. From shore landings, to weeks of fighting, This was truely "Hell in the Pacific". 52:05 Mins2nd Film: "Pacific War Newsreels". This is a collection of Pacific Island Newsreels that tell the story from Guadalcanal to the end at Okinawa. Very Important footage and stories. 1st. Guadalcanal. 2. Latest War News in Pacific. 3. War in New Guinea. 4. Tarawa. 5. New Guinea Captured. 6. Victory in Marshall Islands. MacArthur Returns. Liberation if Manila. Raising the Flag over Iwo Jima. and Last Victory in Okinawa. Runtime 39:23 Mins3rd Film: "Return to Guam". The 6th Marines help retake the Guam island, but this story is about the sole surviver Navyman George Treed and how he evaded the Japanese for over 30 month until the US Navy returned. Terrible atrocities were ministered by the Japanese to the People of Guam and George tells about it. Amazing True Story! 18:52 Min'sWe are a father and son small business that collects old films to save them from the trash heap. We digitize them in HD to save a copy for future generations. The Son went to film school and the father is passionate about history and assembles the content. The result is why folks comment on the "Quality and Content" of our OLD FILM's DVD's. Although we are not Hollywood, we think that you'll like these old historic films too.
