We carefully observed Mother Nature at work by visiting the Green Triangle in California on warm sunny days in June. Surrounded by lush fragrant flowers we measured light spectrum, intensity and uniformity on the plant canopy. Then we built everything we learned into the FGI Lightbar 185R, our most popular HPS replacement LED grow light for flowering. The 185R was inspired and designed by master growers in Washington State. One of the first recreational markets in the US. Before developing these full spectrum, plant tuned LEDs, FGI sold lights made in Asia with a red/blue spectrum. After hundreds of side by side tests between full spectrum versus the purple spectrum we converted fully to the design and manufacturing of full spectrum grow lights. They work better. Grower testing proved that the peak in blue light from the 5000K color temperature diodes created thicker, woodier stems and more lush leaf growth both in veg and flower. The more red dominant 3000K color temperature diodes stimulates flowering or the reproductive phase. This dual diode approach has worked very well. We've sold over 2000 of these Lightbars in commercial grows throughout North America. Installations are wide ranging in style.
